Stewart, Jones Return To Work
Staff Report September 1, 2009
The Green Bay Packers first-team defense will give the Titans a good final tuneup for the regular season Thursday night, according to Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher.
"They've got plus ten takeaways already, their defense is putting great pressure on the quarterback, they're tackling well," Fisher said. "This is a game where there's going to be a lot of solid one-on-one matchups."
The switch to the 3-4 under new coordinator Dom Capers has not gone as well for the backups, giving the Packers overall defensive statistics an unfavorable look. The Packers rank in the league's bottom five in total yards allowed, giving up more than 372 yards per game this pre-season.
As the Titans returned to the practice field Tuesday after a day off Monday, Fisher backed his team down. Defensive lineman Jason Jones and offensive tackle Dave Stewart returned to the practice field Tuesday after missing pre-season work because of injury.
The team will work again Wednesday before taking on the Packers Thursday night, a game in which the starters will see action.
"Everybody is going to play, how much really depends on the individual positions," Fisher said.
