Congratulations to the  Teachers of the Week!

Throughout the season, students, parents, principals and colleagues nominated an outstanding teacher in the Tennessee Titans radio listening area to be recognized as the Titans Radio Teacher of the Week. Each Titans Radio Teacher of the Week received $400 in school supplies from American Paper & Twine Co. and Sharpie and Expo products; a commemorative award; and name recognition on Titans Radio during that week’s game.

Each Teacher of the Week was also qualified for the Grand Prize – to be named the 2012 American Paper & Twine Co. and Georgia-Pacific Teacher of the Year. This grand prize includes $800 in school supplies, a commemorative award, four tickets to the Titans-Jacksonville Football game at LP Field on December 30th, hotel accommodations, transportation, name recognition on Titans Radio and a live award ceremony on the field during the game!

Tina Woods – School Teacher at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital

Tina is a master at providing engaging, interesting and appropriate school services for children receiving chemo therapy, burn therapy, high dose antibiotics, rehabilitative therapy and many other treatments. School is individualized to the child’s academic needs as well as medical demands.

 
Tasha Neal – Grahamwood Elementary – Memphis City Schools

I have never met someone who goes so above and beyond for her students and expects nothing in return. Last school year she had 26 students in her class with no assistant and she managed to give every child an outstanding education and made them feel loved. This woman is truly amazing beyond words.

 
Patrick Nichols – Media & Broadcasting – Franklin High School

Patrick Nichols went above and beyond to help my daughter succeed academically. Mr. Nichols cared enough as a teacher to figure out what my daughter was all about and teach to her individual needs as a student. To say he went beyond the call of duty to give my child the best education possible is a tremendous understatement.

 
Anthony Geist – Chemistry/Physics/Engineering – Gordonsville High School

Mr. Geist spends numerous hours before and after school preparing for his classes. He has an unenviable work load. His expectations for his students are very high and the students are constantly in the lab, building things, experimenting, and doing hands on material. Much of his teaching is based on student inquiry and investigation.

 
Stacey Rollins – Guild Elementary School

Stacy Rollins is the epitome of what all parents and administrators desire and expect from teachers. She is a meticulous planner of engaging and interesting lessons of the highest quality possible. Stacy is a team player in all aspects and is a leader, not only of her grade team, but for the entire Guild School faculty.

                                
Lydia Patterson – Kittrell Elementary

Mrs. Patterson has been encouraging my son to grow and excel in areas outside of school as well as his studies. This week my son had his FIRST piano recital. He invited his teacher on short notice and she already had plans, but she really wanted to encourage my son, so she came! It MADE his DAY! This time she carved out will forever be engraved in his memory!

Harold Sanders – Jellico High School

His classroom is in a football field house locker room. The community looks upon this class as losers and deviants. School Board members have called the students stupid and the biggest waste of money the county spends. But Mr. Sanders teaches the students to work hard and that we can be anything we want to be as long as we are not lazy.

Karen Wilson – Glencliff Elementary

Miss Wilson goes above and way beyond any expectations to ensure that every student in her class loves school and has the basics for continued success all through their school years. She attends classes 3 nights a week to further her education and her ability to positively impact her students lives.

Jan Wallace – Health Science – Greenbrier High School

Mrs. Wallace is a teacher who goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is the only teacher who teaches our health science classes at GHS. Mrs. Wallace sponsors HOSA which is the organization for her classes. She motivates her students to participate in HOSA competitions. Through HOSA she has been the back-bone for our annual blood drives. Mrs. Wallace has inspired more teachers at GHS to get involved and have that ‘Bobcat Pride.’

Jerrett Cushing – Physical Education – Coles Ferry Elementary

Mr. Cushing is instrumental in creating the strong community within our elementary school. His belief in a healthy lifestyle for our students is evident in the variety of daily class activities and the extra programming he offers all students. The students adore him and participate in the Music City Marathon, a district Olympics and basketball because they are his programs and they flock to his activities.

Cindy Honaker – LaFollette Elementary School

Cindy has been teaching for 7 years. She has always given 110% in everything that she does. She believes that shaping and molding lives of her students is the most important part of being a teacher. She believes that each student deserves her best in order for them to become their best.  

 
Celia Owens – Columbia Academy

Mrs. Owens exudes positivity continuously. She truly cares about her students and her job. She also stays in very close contact with the parents to keep us informed with our child’s progress. There are just not enough words of how exceptional she really is.

Zena Buckley – Guidance Teacher – Woodmore Elementary

She came into this school with energy, enthusiasm, and pure and honest belief in all of our children. She has helped several children with severe behavior problems become successful in the regular classroom. She is amazing!

 
Trey Joyner – Normal Park Museum Magnet School

Trey Joyner is an amazing teacher and mentor to all of his students at Normal Park. He reaches so many students through his unconventional teaching methods and inspires them to not only be better students but better people.

 
Leslie House – Arlington Elementary

Mrs. House taught my oldest daughter and is now teaching my youngest daughter. Mrs. House is not just a teacher, going through the motions and teaching the curriculum. She is constantly pouring knowledge into the children, making use of any downtime they might have. She builds their character, their self esteem, their confidence. She makes learning fun, and truly invests in each one of the children to make sure they succeed.
