Reports: 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) out for the season

San Francisco 49ers standout wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL in Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and is done for the season, according to multiple media reports on Monday.

NFL Network reported that an MRI on Monday confirmed the ACL and MCL injuries to the right knee, which occurred in the final minute of the first half of the 28-18 home defeat.

Aiyuk had two receptions for 23 yards before departing. He was injured when he caught a 15-yard pass and was hit by two Kansas City defenders, with the blow from Chamarri Conner causing Aiyuk’s right leg to bend backward.

The 26-year-old Aiyuk has 25 catches for 374 yards and hasn’t caught a touchdown pass in seven starts this season for the 49ers (3-4). A second-team All-Pro selection in 2023, he staged an offseason holdout before accepting a four-year, $120 million contract extension in late August.

San Francisco selected Aiyuk 25th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. He has 294 career catches for 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns in 69 regular-season games (67 starts).
