Raiders fire GM Tom Telesco after one season

The Las Vegas Raiders fired general manager Tom Telesco on Thursday, two days after dismissing head coach Antonio Pierce following a 4-13 season.

“We appreciate his efforts in helping build a foundation for the future,” the team said in a statement. “We wish Tom and his family all the best.”

Telesco, 52, was hired in January 2024. He served as the Chargers’ general manager from 2013 until he was fired along with Los Angeles head coach Brandon Staley following a 63-21 loss to host Las Vegas in December 2023.

The Chargers went 84-95 in the regular season and 2-3 in the playoffs while Telesco was the team’s general manager.

Pierce, 46, went 9-17 over 1 1/2 seasons as the team’s coach. He became the coach on an interim basis after the midseason firing of Josh McDaniels in 2023.

The Raiders had a 10-game losing streak during the gloomy 2024 season. Las Vegas lost six games by double digits during the streak and nine overall.

Gardner Minshew was the starting quarterback at the outset of the season and Aidan O’Connell was the other main quarterback used by the club. Desmond Ridder also started when they were injured.

Tight end Brock Bowers, who was selected 13th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, was one of the bright spots with an NFL rookie-record 112 receptions.
